As mentioned in “Does Betting Bigger Increase Your Chances of Winning on the Popular Slot ‘Starburst’? (Part 1)”, this test examines how different bet amounts per spin may affect the odds of winning when playing Starburst.
We’ve set the test conditions using three different bet levels per spin. To maintain consistent conditions, the bet level is fixed at “1,” and only the coin value is adjusted. The three bet patterns are as follows:
- $0.01 × Level 1 × 10 lines = $0.10 per spin
- $0.50 × Level 1 × 10 lines = $5.00 per spin
- $2.00 × Level 1 × 10 lines = $20.00 per spin
Since betting with real money is high-risk and might affect judgment during testing, we used the free play mode for this experiment.
The free play mode provides a starting balance of $5,000, but we limited the test bankroll to $500. Each test session consisted of 100 spins, and the test would be terminated immediately if the bankroll reached zero.
This kind of structured rule-setting—like deciding on your max bankroll and a fixed stopping point—is also recommended when playing with real money. It helps avoid the risk of spending your entire bankroll before you realize it.
With the test rules in place, let’s look at the results:
(1) $0.10 per spin – 100 spins)
We’ll skip the detailed progression and go straight to the numbers. The maximum balance during the test was around $501, and the lowest was $499. The fluctuation was minimal, and the final result was a small loss—meaning the session ended in a net loss.
While it’s notable that bankroll consumption was very low, considering the starting amount was $500, this setup isn’t efficient if your goal is to earn profits.
(2) $5.00 per spin – 100 spins)
When we raised the bet to $5.00 per spin and spun 100 times, the final balance exceeded $550. That’s more than a 10% increase in bankroll, so we can consider this a winning result.
(3) $20.00 per spin – 100 spins)
With a $20 per spin bet, the final balance went over $860. Considering that $20 per spin is equivalent to about 2,000 yen, a profit of $360 can be seen as a reasonably good outcome.
At one point, the balance peaked at $1,500—triple the initial bankroll. Had we stopped at that point, it would have resulted in a substantial profit.
However, this success was mostly due to luck. In fact, the balance also dropped dangerously low to about $300 at one point. If no wins had occurred, the test could have ended prematurely with a significant loss. This highlights the high risk involved.
Therefore, betting $20 per spin when your total bankroll is only $500 is not recommended.
